Spotlight on WI-03

Diving into the first WCA-backed race—and why it could tip the scales for control of Congress.

In the effort to create real change in American politics, few places carry as much weight as Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District (WI-03). Spanning the Driftless Region and small-town hubs throughout southwestern and western Wisconsin, WI-03 sits at the center of the nation’s political map. Not only is it one of the most competitive U.S. House seats in the country, it’s also a vital indicator district for how working-class communities are responding to current economic and political pressures.

Why WI-03 is so competitive

WI-03 is a fiercely contested battleground defined by its blend of rural agricultural communities, manufacturing towns, and mid-sized hubs like Eau Claire, La Crosse, and Stevens Point. Historically moderate, the district carried presidential candidates from both parties over the years before swinging right in recent cycles. However, margins remain razor-thin—in the last election, the seat was decided by fewer than 12,000 votes (51.4% to 48.6%).

Main Streets in WI-03 continue to face economic stagnation, wages lag behind inflation, and healthcare costs strain self-employed workers and small business owners. Despite these challenges, many independent and working-class voters in the district still support core economic priorities—such as protecting Social Security, expanding universal healthcare, funding public schools, supporting local manufacturing, and lowering everyday costs. WI-03 has become the ultimate testing ground for whether authentic, local engagement can restore trust in self-governance.

The blueprint for WCA-backed leadership

WCA backs candidates in the district like Rebecca Cooke—an Eau Claire native, small-business owner, and daughter of dairy farmers—whose platform centers on protecting rural healthcare, lowering costs for working families, and supporting local entrepreneurs. Rather than relying on traditional insider politics, WCA’s approach in WI-03 focuses on elevating candidates with authentic lived experience who prioritize integrity, accountability, and practical economic policies over partisan warfare.

A scalable model

Ultimately, what happens in southwestern Wisconsin reaches far beyond state lines. By meeting voters where they live, WCA is using WI-03 to prove that a practical, values-driven campaign can re-engage alienated voters and flip the script on political extremism. Rebuilding working-class representation begins on Main Street, and WI-03 provides the exact blueprint for restoring accountability to government across the country.
